Article summary

Duplicate Address Detection (DAD) monitors the IP addresses used by the Edge iNode network interface(s) and any services running on the Edge iNode network. DAD enables detection and notification of duplicate IP addresses between the iNode TAN interface, TAN Services' IP addresses, and IP addresses for entities and devices that are south of the iNode. You can configure DAD on Edge iNodes and Clusters.

Prerequisites

The following settings are required before enabling DAD services:

  1. On the Add/Edit Network screen, verify that the Service Addressing mode is set to Dynamic. This mode is selected by default when you create a new network.
  2. Reserve one additional IP address for each network on the Edge iNode. This additional IP address will be used by the DAD service.DupAddrDetection

Enabling Duplicate Address Detection

  1. To enable DAD, on the left menu select the All iNodes or Clusters option, respectively, and select the iNode or Cluster for which to enable the DAD service.
  2. On the Manage iNode or Manage Cluster dropdown menu (top-right), select Edit → Advanced Settings.
  3. Set the Duplicate Address Detection toggle switch to Active. The scan interval specifies the scan frequency of the service. The default is 5 minutes.DupAddrDetection ManageiNode
